Below are the main events in Indonesia regarding Visit Indonesia Year 2008, celebrating 100 years of national awakening. We have about two weeks to go to the April therefore you still can arrange your trip.
1. International Conference of Local & Community Based Tourism & Culture in Padang (West Sumatra Province).
2. Sekaten Festival in Yogyakarta. It's the Javanese traditional ceremony to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
3. Sea Offering Ceremony in Pagatan (South Kalimantan Province-Borneo). A thanksgiving ceremony conduct bay local fisherman followed by another culture performance and sport attractions.
4. Sea Offering Ceremony in Pelabuhan Ratu, Sukabumi (West Java Province), April 5-6 2008. A thanksgiving ceremony conduct bay local fisherman followed by another culture performance and sport attractions.
5. Maulid Maayum Anak Ceremony in South Kalimantan Province (Borneo), April 12 2008. It's the traditional ceremony to commemorate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad.
6. Legu Gam Festival in Ternate (North Maluku Province), April 13 2008. It's a folk festival to celebrate the birthday of His Highness The Sultan of Ternate. Loyal subjects from throughout the province gather at The Sultan's Kedaton (Palace) to watch or participate in the various colorful and traditional performance of the region.
7. International Handycraft Trade Fair (Inacraft) 2008 in Jakarta, April 23-27 2008. It's the Indonesian handicraft exhibition performed by Association of Exporters & Producers of Indonesian Handicraft (ASEPHI) as promotional tool for Indonesian handicraft marketing to international market by exporting and to the local market.
