1. Istano Pagaruyung (Pagaruyung Grand Palace)
Located in Nagari Pagaruyung Kecamatan Tanjung Emas. Pagaruyung is also the Center of Government Affairs of Kabupaten Tanah Datar. Five km driving from Batusangkar City Center. This tourism spot is the main tourism objective in Kabupaten Tanah Datar. The Pagaruyung Grand Palace was built in 1976 as a duplicate of the palace of Rajo Alam which was burned down by the Dutch Colony in 1804. This big traditional Palace has 11 horns (Gonjong), 72 piles and 3 floors, surrounded by Surau (small mosque), Tabuah (drum) and Rangkiang Patah Sembilan (the Rice Barn). The palace itself is full of various kinds of wood carvings. The shape and color represent the philosophy, history and culture of Minangkabau people.

2. Rumah Adat Kampai Nan Panjang (Kampai Nan Panjang Traditional House)
This house is the form of traditional Minangkabau building consist of 6 small rooms with oval small doors to get in. The unique of this 350 years old house is that it was built without any nails at all. Located in Nagari Balimbing Kecamatan Rambatan, 13 km away from Batusangkar City.
3. Balairung Sari Tabek (Balairung Sari Open Stage in Tabek)
This balairung was built 450 years ago, built by Dr Tantejo Gurhano. It was used in the past as the meeting ground dealing with Minangkabau tradition. You can find medan nan bapaneh tradition inside this balairung. The building is wall less, made from wood and they use "ijuk" as it's roof. Located in Nagari Tabek Kecamatan pariangan, 11 km away from Batusangkar City.
4.Lembah Anai (Anai Valley)
This tourism area (Anai Waterfall) is surrounded by the tropical rain forest. Feel the cool of air and the calm of atmosphere here. Located on a main road between Padang and Bukittinggi in Nagari Singgalang Kecamatan X Koto, 38 km from Batusangkar City.
5. Puncak Pato (Pato Top)
This Tourism Resort is well known its history: "Sumaph Satie Bukik marapalam", the magic oath. This area was the headquarter of Padri War in the past. Located in Nagari Batu Bulek Kecamatan Lintao Buo, 17 km from Batusangkar City.
6. Prasasti Adityawarman (Adityawarman Written Stone)
This site is where all the written stones are collected from the past during Adityawarman ruled this Minangkabau Kingdom. They were found in Bukit Gombak and surrounding area. They were written in ancient Java script & Sanskrit and a little ancient Malay language. The writing is about holy praise to Adityawarman as the believer of Budha Bairawa. Located in Nagari Pagaruyung Kecamatan Tanjung Emas, 4 km from Batusangkar City.
7. Tabek Patah (Tabek Patah View Point)
This is a cool and beautiful National Park because it's surrounded by the beautiful hills and pine forests. This panoramic Tabek Patah is derived from two words: Tabek (pool) and patah (broken/divided/separated into two parts). Northern part of the pool is called Talago Pakis and the south one's called Aia Taganang. Located in nagari Tabek Patah Kecamatan Salimpaung, 19 km west of Batusangkar City.
8. Batu Angkek-angkek (The Lifting Stone)
it was started when Dt Bandaro Kayo, one of the village leaders in Piliang Clan had a dream that he was visited by Syeh Ahmad and he was ordered to establish a village which we recognize now as Kampung Palagan. During the establishment of the first pile, the earthquake, rain and shine happened in 14 days and nights and a meeting was held. That's when they heard an unknown voice from the hole where the first pile ws built. The voice said that in the hole, there is a stone which should be taken care of carefully. It's known as Batu Angkek-angkek (The Lifting Stone), which is believed, it can tell that one's intention in life will be reached or not by observing whether one can lift the stone or not. Located in Nagari Tanjung Kecamatan Sungayang, 11 km from Batusangkar City.
9. Tanjung Mutiara (Mutara Peninsula)
It's the only marine tourist object in Kabupaten Tanah Datar, visited by many tourists during holidays and Balimau, a tradition to clean up before starting Ramadhan fasting. To those visitors who are willing to stay, there is a One Star Hotel Singkarak Sumpur Hotel, located in Nagari Batu Taba Kecamatan Batipuh Selatan, 30 km from Batusangkar City.
