September is a Ramadhan fasting month here in Indonesia, but that will not stop people to run tourism events.
1. Indonesia Agriculture Expo 2008. National Botanical Park, Jababeka, Cikarang, West Java. September 2008. An international agribusiness exhibition which is held in an area of 30Ha. The area consist of convention, national & international pavillion and indoor & outdoor expo. This event will lasted for one month & to be participated by 37 countries. This will be the most prestigious agriculture expo held in Indonesia for prospective buyers, clients and investors agriculture worldwide.
2. Madura Bull Races. Madura, East Java. September-October 2008. This is a very popular sport is held regularly at least twice a month at Bangkalan, Madura Island, an hour by Ferry from Surabaya, Capital City of West Java. Bull Racing is a big event held by the local administration after the harvest time in September & October. The Final Round will be held in Pamekasan, the Capital City of Madura Island once a year.
3. Indonesia Tourism Travel & Tourism Fair 2008. Jakarta. September 2008.
4. Nusa Dua Fiesta 2008. Bali. September (or October...?) 2008.
5. Sam Po Kong/Cheng Ho Festival 2008. Semarang, Central Java. September 2008.
6. International Surfing Championship & Exhibition 2008. Championship in Mentawai, West Sumatra & Exhibition in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra. September 2008. This is one of the most popular sport in the world, attracting participants from all over the world. Thanks to the island's superb waves and unique local culture. This event will be highlighted by the exhibition of things rlated to the surfing activities.
7. Kuta Carnival 2008. Kuta Beach, Bali. September 1-9, 2008. This event always attracts many visitors to come, as it is take place in the famous Kuta Beach, Bali. Highlights include art & culture performances, food bazaar, traditional & contemporary music performances, handicraft & painting exhibition, games, contests and many more interesting activities.
8. Kemilau Nusantara. Bandung, West Java. September 8-9, 2008.
9. International Surfing Exhibition Championship. Bali. September 15, 2008.
10. Bunaken Festival. Bunaken, North Sulawesi. September 15-22, 2008. Bunaken is a small island of the coast of Manado known for its fabulous underwater garden. Not far from this area, lies the volcano, Manado Tua. Highlight during the festival include art & cultural performances from the four ethnic groups living in North Sulawesi Province.
11. Keraton Nusantara Royal Palace Festival. Gowa, South Sulawesi. September 20-28, 2008.
12. Dugderan Warak Ngendog Festival. Semarang, Central Java. September 23, 2008.
13. Ubud Writers & Readers Festival. Bali. September 25-30, 2008.
14. Ambon Bay Festival. Desa Mamala & Desa Morela, Central Maluku. September 27, 2008.

Dirgahayu Indonesiaku...
We had Panjat Pinang and they said it was broadcasted by Trans TV, dunno for sure since I had diarrhea that day. That's why I canceled my plan to go to Festival Jajanan Bango in Senayan, near my office building.
In my neighborhood, we had small parties, unique futsal game, children & adult games, kids fun bike, gaple tournament and more. I bet you guys will never ever find events like these in your countries : ).
It's Indonesia, my beloved country.

Festival Danau Singkarak & Danau Kembar, Solok West Sumatra
Solok Regency, West Sumatra will held Festival Danau Singkarak & Danau Kembar (Singkarak Lake & Twin Lake Festival) on August 23-27, 2008. This event will be opened by Minister of Tourism & Culture: Mr Jero Wacik.
As part of "Visit Indonesia Year 2008" program, Festival Danau Singkarak & Danau Kembar aim to re-discover the nature & wildness of the tourism spots in West Sumatra and also to rise the traditional culture. Traditional children plays and more games will also be performed such as West Sumatra Traditional Kite Festival Festival, West Sumatra Tradional Pacu Biduk, Chicken Kukuek Balenggek Competition, Uda-Uni Election, Food Competition, Bazaar, Paralayang Exhibition and Solok Regency Tourism Photography Competition (July 28- August 23, 2008).

2. Flora & Fauna Exposition & Festival; Lapangan Banteng, Jakarta; August. This event is opened to public with highlight activities are exhibition of various types of flower plants, workshops, various competition such as painting, photography and contest of Miss Flora.
3. Jakarta Wedding Festival; Jakarta; August. A unique event presenting the rich diversity of Indonesia's bridal costumes, as well as the fascinating weddingrituals from different parts of the country.
4. Port Numbay Festival; Papua; August 7-9.
5. Lembah Beliem Cultural Festival; Jayawijaya, Papua; August 8-11. Cultural Festival Balliem Valley, one of the area in Wamena Regency, Province of Papua, presents demonstration and exhibition of local handicraft, traditional arts & culture, will be held to celebrate the event.
6. Papua Cultural Festival; Papua; August 12-19.
7. Sea Eagle Boat Race; Batam; August 15
8. Sanur Village Festival; Bali; August 15-19.
9. Sandeq Race; Majene, West Sulawesi; August 17. An annual traditional boat of Mandar. The sailing takes place from Mamuju to Makassar.

12. Teluk Kuantan Boat Races; Teluk Kuantan, Riau; August 23-26
13. Toraja Festival; Rantepoa, Tanatoraja, South Sulawesi; August 23-31. Art & cultural performances, Toraja handicraft exhibition & traditional sport competition are held during the festival.
14. Yadnya Kasada; Probolinggo, East Java; August 25-26. This is an annual ritual held by the Tenggerese Community at Ngadisari Village, Probolinggo. Thousand of pilgrims bring rice, flowers, fruits, vegetables and live stocks, as well as other local products, to the foot of the Mt Bromo.

Some of the famous culinaries that I recognise (and will be there at the festival) are: Ketroprak Ciragil, Sate Kambing Pondok Sate Pejompongan, Nasi Goreng Kambing Kebon Sirih and Sate Padang Pariaman Gandaria.
